Loved everything about our stay at the Broadway Plaza Hotel. Front desk staff was incredibly nice and helpful as were their two security/doormen. Hotel was nice, room was clean and spacious for our family of 6, beds were very comfortable, and it was located in a very good location. Subway and restaurants were within walking distance, area is busy day and night but we slept without any disturbances. Highly recommend and look forward to our next stay here!

This is a well maintained property in a safe walkable part of Midtown East. I would def stay here again (I'm tri-state and travel to the city often). One note for non-tech folks, there are no room keys, it's all done on your phone through an app. I've stay at hotels where this was an option, but for this hotel it is the only option. This does allow you to set everything up before arrival (maybe after you have stayed a few times), having said that there was a staff member there to help me through...

Great location! Great restaurants nearby! Comfortable beds. It would have been nice though if a little birthday card or something was put in my room! Other than that you cannot go wrong staying here and I’m planning to again!

I'm a regular at Pod 39 when I come to NYC by myself. It's very minimalist and if I was planning to spend more time in my room, I'd go elsewhere, but exactly what I need when I'm in the city to see shows and check out some exhibitions. Always clean and my room is always ready when I arrive (which has not been my experience at other NYC hotels).

The only problem I had was the staff complained when I brought Dunkin Donuts coffee from across the street into the lobby. I’m sorry but when I’m spending $4,000 for a trip I feel like I can get my coffee from anywhere I please They kept saying no outside food or drink

Very new interior. A good deal compared with other hotels in the area. Nice midtown location. Nearby subway and bus. Nice little cafe inside hotel (and bar in late afternoon and evening. Rooms while not large are big enough and larger than many hotels.

I really enjoyed my stay. If you're looking for a quiet place - this is not it, though. You can hear the street noise. It's New York, after all. Just mentioning this as I noticed it, but quickly got used to it. The location is great. Near subways, restaurants, Broadway. Almost everything is walking distance away. The room is good and a welcome respite from the busy-ness of the city, but we didn't spend much time in it, because there is just way too much to see and do and too little time.

The staff took great care of us. They stored our luggage and were very generous with getting in and out of our luggage when we needed. They helped us find a good restaurant to eat. We were only in the city for overnight. The staff is genuine. The room was very small but nice. It is also New York City so a small room is ok. The room was clean.

Where to stay in New York for last-minute hotels
When booking a last-minute hotel in New York, consider staying in the city center for easy access to major attractions, restaurants, shopping, and public transportation. Popular tourist areas are ideal for sightseeing and offer a wide range of accommodation options, while business districts can provide excellent value, particularly on weekends. Hotels near airports, train stations, and other transportation hubs are convenient for short stays and flexible travel plans. If you’re seeking scenic surroundings, look for accommodations near natural attractions. For a more local experience, explore residential neighborhoods where you can discover authentic dining and culture. Choosing the right area can help you make the most of your stay in New York, even when booking at the last minute.
What amenities to expect in last-minute hotels in New York
When booking a last-minute hotel in New York, the most valuable amenities are those that offer convenience, flexibility, and comfort for spontaneous travelers, business travelers, and guests on short trips. Look for properties with flexible cancellation policies, allowing you to adjust plans if necessary. Many hotels offer a choice between budget rooms with essentials like free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and daily housekeeping, and premium options that include more spacious rooms, complimentary breakfast, fitness centers, pools, parking, airport shuttles, or concierge services for a more comfortable stay. Business travelers may also appreciate amenities like workspaces, meeting facilities, and convenient transportation access, while leisure travelers often value on-site dining, pet-friendly rooms, and 24-hour front desk service.
Best hotel types for last-minute stays in New York
The best last-minute hotels in New York are often business hotels and city center properties, which frequently have availability and offer excellent value. Business hotels are a great option for short trips and work travel, while city hotels are placed close to major attractions, restaurants, shopping, and entertainment, making them ideal for maximizing time. Last-minute travelers can also benefit from hotels looking to fill unsold inventory, which may result in discounted rates on remaining rooms. Whether you’re planning a spontaneous getaway, a quick overnight stay, or a business trip, comparing different hotel types can help you find comfortable accommodations, convenient locations, and great last-minute deals in New York.
Best time to go for a last-minute trip to New York
The best time for a last-minute trip to New York is often during shoulder seasons, midweek, and periods outside major holidays and events, when hotel availability tends to be higher and rates more competitive. In general, the best last-minute hotel deals are often found within a few days of arrival. Flexible travelers who can adjust their dates and hotel preferences are usually most likely to find the best combination of value, availability, and convenience.
Tips to save on last-minute hotels in New York
Use same-day and short-notice deals to your advantage. Checking rates within 24–48 hours of check-in can reveal discounts as hotels try to fill remaining rooms. Prices can change quickly, so revisiting listings or booking when you see a good fit can help secure better value.
Be flexible with location and room type. Expanding your search beyond the most central or high-demand areas in New York, and considering standard rooms instead of premium options, can often unlock better last-minute prices without losing comfort or convenience.
Compare options and watch for shifting prices. Last-minute availability in New York can fluctuate due to cancellations and occupancy levels. Comparing multiple hotels on EasyTrip helps you spot reduced rates and better overall deals.
Look beyond the base price for added value. Perks like free cancellation, Wi-Fi, breakfast, or member pricing can make a big difference in total value. Members of EasyTrip’s free travel rewards program can unlock instant savings when signed in, which can help to reduce costs even on spontaneous stays.
